“ONE PLACE, MANY WAYS” – THE JOURNEY TO BRING 1,850 SPARK PEOPLE TOGETHER.
The Spark Central project in Wellington comprised the fitout of 19,000m² open plan style office accommodation over 16 floor plates of the new Boulcott tower and partially extended Airways House bringing together 1850 staff from four separate premises.
Spark engaged The Building Intelligence Group as project managers. This engagement followed on from our project management role on the successful Spark Place project in Auckland and ensured we were off to a flying start in understanding Spark’s brief, design principles and deliverables.
A high quality totally open plan fitout of the Spark Central project, was achieved, fostering strong staff collaboration through flexible and efficient workspaces with physical and visual connectivity. The dynamic workplace strategy incorporated multiple hot desking designs and configurations. Separate contract works were extensive and included IT works, AV, data cabling, security services, dedicated mobile phone cell site and soft fit out. The Building Intelligence Group managed the delivery and installation of 36 different soft fitout vendors, through four stages comprising 3600 individual soft fitout components.
Jim Robb, Spark National Property Projects Manager at the time commented, “Delivery of the new build was core, but accelerating the exit strategies from current buildings and minimising the double rent overlap saved a lot of time and cost. TBIG did an outstanding job of managing the whole exit and surrender process.”
As a vibrant, people driven work space, the emphasis is on collaboration and flexibility through an efficient hot desking model. Spark Central has achieved a property solution that entirely supports their new as one culture.
