The Ministry of Education has relocated to a new building in Cameron road, Tauranga, bringing their staff into a modern working environment.
The Ministry of Education Tauranga Office has between 70 and 80 staff who work collaboratively with schools throughout the Bay of Plenty Region. The Ministry wanted the new workplace to drive transformation in the way that their staff work, encouraging communal and comfortable spaces for a more collaborative and technology-driven style of working
Key to the Ministry’s vision was to maximise the attributes of the new location, providing a light and modern space for their staff. The ground floor was reconfigured into an open space with various seating options, including the option for a large informal gathering. On Level 1, a formal conference room sits behind the concierge reception area where visitors can sign in and be directed to their destination, or meet in the transit lounge and various meeting rooms. The remaining area of Level 1 has been converted into an open plan work space, filled with natural light and water views.
The Building Intelligence Group‘s (TBIG) role encompassed delivery aspects of the Development Agreement (DA), design management, procurement, construction and relocation. With careful programme management the project was delivered on schedule, in time for the Ministry to relocate staff into the building before the 2016 Christmas shutdown.
Tauranga’s Ministry of Education are happily installed in their ABW workplace, an environment which will assist the Ministry to efficiently and effectively deliver on their mission to lift aspiration and raise educational achievement for every New Zealander
