Massey university required design management services for a multi stage $75m upgrade to their veterinary science complex over seven years.
The project comprises the upgrade, redevelopment and extension of the existing Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biological Sciences Complex at Massey’s Manawatu Campus facility. It is to be completed in stages over seven years, with a total project budget of $75M.
The overall redevelopment plans include upgrade of the existing companion animal clinics building, which includes a public vet clinic, operating theatres and associated facilities, consulting rooms and training areas. Construction of a new Wildbase hospital and university administration building. Construction of a new Post Mortem building, new teaching labs, office and administration facilities and a new large animal hospital with training and teaching facilities.
To date we have managed the procurement of the design team; prepared procurement strategies and reports; prepared and updated overall project programmes and staging programmes; completed value engineering workshops; managed the completion of the working drawings for the first two phases of the project, and managed the construction of a new Anaesthesia and Sterile supply facility within the companion animal hospital clinics.
The Building Intelligence Group Auckland has managed the design and consent phases of the new Wild Base and Administration building to house a wildlife hospital on the ground floor, a staff common room, and offices on the two upper floors. Design management of the remaining stages is ongoing.
