FACE TO FACE WITH JACINDA ARDERN

Avonside Girls’ High School, Shirley Boys’ High School and Ferndale School have come together at an exciting new campus in Christchurch.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s face lit up when she saw a giant mosaic of herself created by talented students for the Opening Ceremony of the new campus that is now home to Avonside Girls’ High School, Shirley Boys’ High School and Ferndale School in Christchurch. This day was all about the kids.

There’s no bigger reward than happy faces, for TBIG’s David Hopkins who was the Ministry of Education’s representative for this project. “The pride of the students, teachers and parents was obvious – from the Kapa Haka student group welcoming Jacinda Ardern into the building to the speeches referencing the journey the three schools have been on since the earthquakes was quite an emotional experience and really emphasises the human element in what we help to deliver through our work as project managers.”

This state-of-the art campus was delivered under the third schools Public Private Partnership PPP3. It’s familiar ground for TBIG, as our role on this project followed on from working as the Ministry of Education’s representative for Queenstown’s Wakatipu High School delivered under PPP2 in 2018.
